Understanding PDA from all Angles

Are you struggling to support a child who doesn’t seem to fit the typical profile of autism or ADHD? Have you heard about PDA but aren’t sure how it presents and is experienced to know if it fits your situation?
PDA (Pathological demand avoidance) is a confusing and often misunderstood profile of autism (and ADHD) and is becoming more well-known, but many are still in the dark about how it really impacts PDA children and adults, what is needed to support PDA, and how it interacts with existing autism and/or ADHD.
In this unique workshop, we are bringing knowledge from the angles of parent, PDAer, school, CAMHS, and even wider family support, to ensure that there is something for everyone with any connection with PDA, whether professionally or personally.
Katie Trowse, a former local authority teacher and independent education consultant, shares her perspective and knowledge on PDA as a late-diagnosed AuDHD adult with a PDA profile, parenting a PDA child, and working with PDA children and families both in and out of the education system.
Sally Trowse, a retired ADHD lead practitioner for CAMHS in Stockport, adds in her professional experience of PDA, as well as her personal experiences as a parent to Katie and as a grandparent, helping you understand PDA from a variety of angles, wherever you may fit into that wider picture.
Both are passionate about improving understanding of PDA and ensuring as many people as possible can begin to recognise signs early on in school settings, families, and even workplaces, to be able to help PDAers thrive, AND for the world to see and benefit from their strengths.
Wherever you are in your awareness of PDA, this workshop will help bring new insights, takeaway strategies, and mindset shifts that will help you be a great ally for PDA and autonomy needs, and help spread awareness to others.
We can’t wait to see you there!
